Lethal Lottery to Return

San Diego, CA. - After an eight year hiatus from EWA pay-per-view, the controversial Lethal Lottery event will return to E-Wrestling Alliance on June 30th, 2024 exactly 2,835 days since the last Lethal Lottery tournament was broadcast.

Lethal Lottery is single-elimination tag team tournament where the teams in the tournament are determined by random selection, or lottery, to create some unlikely team-ups. Each team that wins advances on to compete in a final battle. The winning team and final format of the tournament varied each year with unique twists and escalated stakes in each subsequent event.

The very first Lethal Lottery happened in 2012 and saw numerous teams do battle, culminating in a Battle Bowl battle royal which was won by Steve Blackman. The following year the event was capped off with a tournament with the moniker "Friend or Foe" where the winning team of Steve Corino and Mr. Anderson would reveal at the end of the night whether they would remain a team and challenge for the EWA World Tag Team Championships, each seek singles glory by choosing a National and World Title match or if they would potentially lose everything by both choosing foe.

The unique event has long been a spectacle of epic highs and incredible adversity for the combatants. Friendships have been formed, rivalries intensified and odd alliances have come to the forefront. During it's 6 year run many indelible moments were created, including the EWA World Tag Team Championships even changing hands multiple times during the tournament itself. Fans have requested the event to return for many years and finally Commissioner Christian Cage has granted their request.

"Our fanbase wants this event to happen but the wrestlers have always been resistant," Cage said about the return. "There's so many potential twists and turns and your partner could end up being your rival or you might end up having to face your best friend, so I understand their hesitation."

The specific details of this year's event are being kept secret for now, but the belief is that this Lethal Lottery tournament will include some of the fan favorite concepts from previous years as well as some new tweaks to the traditional format. More details will be announced as the event draws closer.

EWA Owner and General Manager Harry Smith is said to be pleased to see Lethal Lottery returning as it was one of the first events he brought to the company when he took the reins in 2012. Lethal Lottery will be broadcast live on pay-per-view on Sunday, June 30th, 2024 from the Toyota Center in Kennewick, Washington.
