SuperBrawl XXII
It's that time of the year once more. For the 22nd time in EWA history, SuperBrawl is upon us. This year there are new challenges, new twists and plenty of exciting combatants to entice new and old members of the roster, alike. SuperBrawl is the match where history is made, legacies are written and the future is shaped. This year we have three teams vying for all the gold in the E-Wrestling Alliance.
This year's captains are the EWA World Heavyweight Champion SANTINO MARELLA who overcame Kevin Owens just one month ago at King of the Ring to claim his championship gold. He enters as the veteran of SuperBrawl having competed in the match multiple times, and having won it but never as a captain before. He gets first draft pick and has the advantage of experience.
The second captain is none other than the 2022 King of the Ring himself, SEFA FATU! Although Fatu is relatively new to the landscape of the EWA and has never competed in a SuperBrawl match, it's hard to look past the momentum he has been building. Fatu has dominated nearly every squared circle encounter he's been a part of and SuperBrawl seems to have landed smack dab in the middle of his hottest period. It's coming at a good time for him.
The third captain is a first for the EWA, a female captain, CHARLOTTE FLAIR, a seasoned veteran in the women's division and current EWA Women's Champion. She has never competed in a SuperBrawl match proper, but has decimated the competition in every other format and is breaking the glass ceiling by being recognized as the first woman to captain a team heading into this year's big event.
What else can we look forward to? Expect surprises, hardships and certainly plenty of titles on the line. There are always twists when it comes to SuperBrawl and it's best to expect the unexpected, because what you see here may not be all there is to be seen.
The Basics of SuperBrawl XXII
Each team will have 5 wrestlers. Four men and one woman. Plus one alternate. One person from each team is in the ring at any given time, and eliminations come via pinfall or submission. When someone is eliminated, the next person from their team enters to replace him. When all 3 members of one team have been eliminated, that team is out. The match ends when all but one team has been eliminated, and the winning team's members will win the World Championship and the Women's Championship.
The National Championship and the Television Championship will all be on the line during the match itself. When one of those champions enters, their title is immediately "on the line", if they are pinned, whoever pins them becomes the holder of that title and the championship is no longer on the line. However if one of the champions pins someone else, then they retain their title and the belt is no longer on the line even if the champion is eliminated later.
The World Tag Team Championships will be decided in much the same fashion, but since there are two champions, there is potential for one champion to retain and the other to lose, or both to lose to different members of different teams, creating a lot of different scenarios for new tag team champions. If both champions manage to pin someone first, they retain their title and it is no longer active.
Lastly, the winning SuperBrawl team will get title shot(s) at the Tag Team and National Championships (assuming they don't capture those belts as well during the match) .
All the teams will choose an alternate that can be swapped in at the last minute should the team need to swap them in for some reason. All the alternates will face each other in the undercard of SuperBrawl and the winner of that match will receive a TV Title match.
Captains will assign their own team order as they see fit, with one caveat this year due to the emergence of female combatants. The women must enter the match as the FINAL entrant for each team, theoretically putting them at even kilter with any male performers who will be tired by that point and lessening the potential for the females to be at any disadvantage. This will also likely change traditional strategy for the SuperBrawl captains.
As advantage heading into SuperBrawl as the World Champion, Santino Marella receives first pick and a random draw was made to determine the order in which the remaining Captains would be able to make their picks. That order is:
1) Santino Marella
2) Charlotte Flair
3) Sefa Fatu
HOWEVER, the 2022 King of the Ring gets to impose his rule on this event... Which means Sefa Fatu can JUMP the line at any point and draft before someone else. So Sefa could take the first pick if he wants, or he could cut the line and draft ahead of anyone else at any point, he simply needs to chime in and say he's using his ROYAL DECREE and drafting ahead of time. This is ONE opportunity, so Sefa is free to use it whenever he wants, but only once.
Starting with their first pick, each Captain will reveal their chosen team-mate until the first round of selections is over. Then, in that same order, each Captain will next announce their next pick as a single selection, this will continue until each Captain has selected the final member of their team. The only time a captain may select two people at a time, is if they are drafting an established tag team, IE: The RoadWarriors Hawk and Animal would come as a package deal.
The EWA World Tag Team Champions, the National and Television Champions MUST be drafted. So if by the time we get to the point in the draft where there are no selections left other than the World Tag, TV and National Champions have not been selected, they will automatically be drafted to the remaining teams.
Once all teams are decided, Captains will then select 1 alternate male wrestler as a "in case of emergency" pick that would substitute someone on their team if they are unable to compete. Should a replacement be needed for one of the female combatants, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
Lastly, Captains may make trades from their team to another team, should someone want to do so. If you don't like your team for some reason, perhaps you can convince your opponents to trade you some members for some reason or another. This has surprisingly never happened before in 21 years, but the option is available and has been every year.
The Fine Print
This topic will remain sticky at the top, and I ask that only captains respond to this post, any questions or the like be posted either in the Locker Room or via PM to me, not under this thread as I want to keep this the "official" SB topic without all the clutter of useless replies. Good luck, everyone!
It should be noted that although this topic is being opened early, it may takes hours, or even DAYS to complete this process, so just sit back, enjoy and have fun.
With that out of the way, let the 2022 EWA Super Brawl Draft begin!
First pick goes to EWA World Heavyweight Champion, SANTINO MARELLA... (Unless Sefa Fatu wants to use his royal decree now!)
