San Diego, CA. - E-Wrestling Alliance is proud to announce the participants and reveal the brackets for the upcoming King of the Ring tournament, set to take place November 27th live on pay-per-view.
The tournament is comprised of 8 wrestlers from different backgrounds and standing within the EWA. The field includes 2021 winner Santino Marella, who hopes to win the tournament for a record breaking second time, EWA Television Champion Wardlow and even social media sensation turned professional wrestler, Logan Paul.
The second and final round will take place on the pay-per-view event, where a new "king" will be crowned, but the action will actually start next Saturday on a supersized 2 hour edition of EWA USA. The entire first round will play out next Saturday morning, allowing fans of the EWA to watch the beginning of this event for free.
"This bracket has a lot of interesting matchups," said EWA Commissioner, Christian Cage. "There's an opportunity for someone to become a breakout star but also potential for a veteran to really prove their worth."
The selection process for the eight competitors was not an easy one. Many wrestlers wanted to compete in the event while others were pleased to even be considered. Many deliberations led to the final tournament and the planning stages were done in secret so that even the combatants wouldn't know if they were in or who they were facing until today.
"I did a lot in my career, but never that" Cage added. "I wanted to make sure this tournament had the ability to produce great matches for our fans but also require a star making performance by whoever comes out on top."
Many King of the Ring winners have went on to become EWA World Champion, but some like 2020's winner, Santos Escobar, were never able to achieve anything other than the one night of greatness. "It's tough because you put everything into proving yourself as king, but heavy is the head that wears the crown," said Escobar of his tenure at the top.
EWA Owner and General Manager Harry Smith, a former King of the Ring in 2005, will be watching the event closely and believes this could be anyone's year. "You got a guy like Miro, returning to the EWA after an absence as well as someone like Dragon Lee who has long been after a shot to prove himself. This is that opportunity. King of the Ring led me to create the EWA Triple Crown Championship... Someone could raise the stakes just as much this year."
In addition to the tournament itself, the King of the Ring pay-per-view promises several title matches and additional bouts to be decided in the days ahead. This is the final stop on the road to EWA's annual mega blockbuster pay-per-view event, SuperBrawl. EWA USA airs Saturday November 19th. Check your local listings for time and station.
