Biography:
There are some names in the professional wrestling industry that commanded respect like Flair and Rhodes. Then there were others that were more notorious for other reasons - like Von Erich. Marshall and Ross Von Erich were born and raised by the world famous “Golden Warrior” Kevin Von Erich who, along with his brothers, were the premier names of professional wrestling in Texas back in the territory days.
Marshall embraces the legacy… loves it really. Maybe it was due to the fact that he was the baby brother but he is more of an optimist than Ross was. He was always so captivated when their dad sat them around the campfire and told them stories about how he and his brothers faced down the Freebirds, the Great Kabuki, and Ric Flair… how all of the Dallas Sportatorium got to their feet and cheered for them as they made their way to the ring. Marshall trained himself to wrestle bare-footed like his dad, he wore the cowboy hat to the ring like his uncle David, and he ate, slept, and lived the Von Erich name. For Marshall, wrestling is about taking an opportunity to revitalize the family name.
Ross sees things differently. While Marshall sat back and saw heroes, Ross saw young men who were pushed too hard by their father. The stories their father told made him feel sad, if anything. So he decided to cut himself from stone. While his brother was learning moonsaults, head scissors, and heart punches, Ross turned his focus to Muay Thai, Brazilian jiu jitsu, and submissions. He didn’t want to be a throwback to greater days of the 1980s - a decade that he had barely been born into. He wanted to be his own man, wrestle his own style, and take back the Von Erich name in a way that was wholly unique and wholly his own.
After suffering a devastating injury in April of 2021, the Von Erichs have been cleared to return to the EWA and continue their goal of living up to their family’s legacy.
