This past weekend on Sunday Night SLAM!, EWA General Manager Harry Smith struck a deal with Pete Dunne during the broadcast. As long as The Bruiserweight put down his sledgehammer and stayed out of trouble, The British Bulldog would give him the match he wanted against sworn rival Roman Reigns at Mayan Mayhem, live on Pay-Per-View on May 29th. Pete Dunne seemingly agreed to those terms, vowing to stand down and thereby making the match official. However, as we witnessed later in the show, the former World Champion would lose his temper in the face of The Big Dog's taunts, resulting in him breaking his promise when he attacked a member of the production crew he mistook for Reigns before eventually being ejected from the building by security.
Needless to say, EWA management are extremely unhappy with the situation and an internal investigation is underway to ascertain what action is to be taken. While Pete Dunne has been involved in similar instances in the past, it seems the EWA's tolerance has finally reached its limit. It's one thing when a contracted in-ring talent is assaulted in that fashion, but completely unacceptable when it's one of the behind-the-scenes team. As a result, Pete Dunne has already been ordered to pay a heavy six-figure fine, with rumors abound of an indefinite suspension soon to follow.
As of right now, EWA officials have yet to make a final decision regarding what this means for the scheduled match between Pete Dunne and Roman Reigns at Mayan Mayhem. However, sources indicate that if The Bruiserweight is indeed sent home for the immediate future, every effort will be made to find a replacement opponent for Roman Reigns so as to make it up to the EWA Universe for losing a marquee match at Mayan Mayhem. As for who that opponent may be, management are keeping their cards close to their chest, with an official announcement expected to be made on Saturday's EWA USA. In the meantime, stay tuned to EWA.com for any more breaking news on this developing story.
