After this past week's Sunday Night SLAM saw General Manager Harry Smith get involved numerous times to straighten out issues between wrestlers and make matches for Mayan Mayhem, EWA.com was notified that Smith had a special announcement to make. The following was sent to us on behalf of Harry Smith:
To whom it may concern,
Effective immediately I have decided that things are growing unwieldy and my presence on SLAM and other programs is growing too frequent. I have never wanted to make EWA programming about me, but it's obvious that many wrestlers need someone to reign them in. The truth however, is that I am not just the "general manager" of the EWA, but the owner and president of operations.
As this company is well past two decades of existence and our global footprint continues to grow with international television and pay-per-view deals, I just simply cannot get bogged down in all the day-to-day current affairs. Surely there must be a better use of my time than deciding what to do with the problems of Pete Gas. The wrestlers and fans deserve someone to oversee these changes and rule enforcement more regularly.
After much consideration, I have decided that I will seek a replacement to handle these sorts of duties and in the next few weeks I will appoint a commissioner who will assume that role. I am not leaving my position, I am simply allocating these duties to someone who can be in the trenches on weekly programming while I manage the worldwide empire that is the E-Wrestling Alliance from our headquarters in San Diego, California.
In short, expect to see a lot less of me.
- Harry Smith
There is no word yet on who will be the new EWA Commissioner or when they will make their debut. However it is expected we will hear more about this in the days and weeks ahead. For now, we only know that GM Harry Smith will not be appearing on any EWA programming moving forward unless he sees fit. Stay tuned to EWA.com for more news and announcements.
