Seated in front of a wall of monitors playing highlights of what occurred on last week’s edition of Slam, Renee Young and her two co-hosts smile for the cameras as it sweeps by them to capture the full scope of the set. In honor of St. Patrick’s Day that passed the day before, the stage is draped in green with shamrocks, pots of gold, and green top hats. Renee Young, Eric Bischoff, and Jim Ross are all in the spirit as they’re dressed in various shades of green lest they be pinched by Hornswoggle. As the camera settles to its static position, Renee clasps her hands together.
RENEE YOUNG: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Sunday Night SLAM! Post Show Panel! I’m your host Renee Young and joining me, as always, are the legendary icons of professional wrestling Eric Bischoff and Jim Ross. We may have the luck of the Irish but many on the EWA roster were feeling mighty UNlucky on Slam this week.
ERIC BISCHOFF: The unluckiest were probably the hospital staff who were having to work overtime last weekend.
JIM ROSS: It was certainly an eventful night in Waltham, Massachusetts!
RENEE YOUNG: That eventful evening started off with the Decree making their presence known for the first of many times as they came out for a victory lap after successfully retaining the EWA Tag Team titles and capturing the EWA National title at Collision Course. That victory lap was cut short, though, when former champion Shannon Moore came out to challenge Drew McIntyre to a rematch for the National title. McIntyre agreed but ONLY if Shannon Moore can run a literal gauntlet on EWA USA and ONLY THEN would he defend it in a Glasgow Street Fight the following week. Typically the former champion does get a rematch clause but what do you think of Drew’s demands?
ERIC BISCHOFF: I think they’re perfectly valid, Renee. Shannon Moore never won the EWA National Championship. He literally found it in a coffin during the Chamber of Horrors match in October. If he wants a rematch then he’ll have to earn it.
JIM ROSS: I don’t necessarily agree, Eric. Yes, Shannon didn’t win the belt in a conventional sense but he defended it successfully on multiple occasions and even retained it at Superbrawl which very few men have been capable of doing. If anyone has earned the right to challenge for the National title it’s been Shannon Moore.
ERIC BISCHOFF: If he’s as deserving as you say he is then he’ll have no problem getting through the gauntlet. Have a little faith in your man, Jim.
JIM ROSS: I have plenty of faith in Shannon Moore but I have no faith in the Decree making this a fair match. This week alone saw multiple instances of them behaving like a pack of wild animals.
RENEE YOUNG: We’ll talk more about the Decree in a bit but first let’s go over another great win for Lady Frost over the Gentlemen’s Club’s Resident Alien Kris Statlander. Frost has been quietly racking up some wins lately and is one of many women on the roster who have their eyes on Civil War. What’re your thoughts on Frost’s odds of winning, Jim?
JIM ROSS: She’s got as good a chance as many of the other women on the roster. The EWA Women’s division has been going strong and it seems that with every departure a new face signs a contract and is right in the mix. That was a good win over Statlander. For a moment it looked like it could go either way but Frost’s ice cold focus helped her pull ahead in the end. Pun intended.
ERIC BISCHOFF: Jim is nicer than me as usual but I don’t see the women’s division the same way as he does. There are a couple of women with good odds but they’re all tied up in petty rivalries and not focusing on the big picture. Lady Frost is locked in on her goal and look no further than Santino Marella. My personal feelings on the man aside, Santino was locked in on winning King of the Ring and he did. Some call that tunnel vision but it’s serving Lady Frost well enough now.
RENEE YOUNG: To go the exact opposite of someone focused on their goals, what is there to say about Chris Masters versus Glenn Gilbertti? Gilbertti clearly didn’t want any part of the Masterpiece and quickly left the ring and was counted out right when it looked like he was about to be put in the Masterlock. I’m sure Masters would have preferred to win that match another way but it’s another mark in the win column for him.
ERIC BISCHOFF: I’ve unfortunately known Glenn for a long time and the only thing that he cares about is money. Now that he and Swinger’s casino is back open I expect even less than him from usual.
JIM ROSS: Chris Masters should take this as a sign that no one wants to be put in the Masterlock. Though I wish he would pump the brakes on his ego, I’m still expecting big things from the Masterpiece in the coming weeks.
RENEE YOUNG: This next match is just… I don’t even know where to start with this. The last time we saw Bo Dallas he was teaming with “Speedball” Mike Bailey before Bailey was brutally assaulted by the Decree. This week is almost a replay of the same with Brody King. The pair looked to be a pretty good team, albeit with King doing the heavy lifting, but any future hopes for this team was dashed when the Decree attacked Brody King in the locker room after the match.
JIM ROSS: It’s disgusting, Renee. Men like Mike Bailey and Brody King work their entire lives for an opportunity to be in the EWA and for the Decree to violently attack to the point of hospitalization is shameful. I don’t know why EWA Management hasn't done anything and, frankly, I don’t care for how flippant Bo Dallas has been about this whole situation. Things need to change or we’re going to see more hardworking men injured by the actions of the Decree.
ERIC BISCHOFF: I’m not co-signing or endorsing the Decree for their actions - let’s get that out of the way first. Isn’t this just the tiniest bit Bo’s fault though? Bo Dallas returned to the EWA and disrespected the Decree. They gave him the opportunity to apologize and he didn’t. Thom Latimer and Rickey Shane Page aren’t mincing words. They’re saying repeatedly that Bo Dallas is to blame for these attacks. What needs to change is Bo Dallas becoming accountable for actions. Frankly I’m sure that the reason EWA Management hasn’t stepped in is karma against Bo for how he injured and kicked people out of the EWA when he was last here. Mark Henry, Sean Spears, Jungle Boy, Marko Stunt… now Bo is getting what he deserves.
RENEE YOUNG: Well you can also say that karma was in action next when the Dungeon Dynasty’s Ben Carter scored an upset win in the latest chapter of their war with Team Bliss when Pete Dunne helped him beat Monty Brown. Monty Brown debuted and put Dunne through a table at Collision Course. After the match those two men had to be physically separated by EWA security.
ERIC BISCHOFF: Can I ask a question? Did Ben Carter ask Pete Dunne for his help? I’m just asking because if I was Carter I’d be furious with Dunne. In fact, I’d say the only person angrier at Pete Dunne is Team Bliss. Pete Dunne is the biggest hypocrite in EWA history. He got mad because Monty Brown put him through a table for being disrespectful to his teammates? How many people have had their careers ended because of Pete Dunne? There is a list of them. His nickname is the Career Killer. Well, Dunne is about to find out what happens when cross Alexa Bliss and her boys.
JIM ROSS: While I’m sure Ben Carter would have preferred to win on his own, I’m sure he doesn’t mind the end result - especially if it came at the expense of a member of Team Bliss. The Dungeon Dynasty have been my favorite group in the EWA for the sheer amount of heart they have - pun intended - and Ben Carter showed a lot of it in the match with a much bigger opponent. Now as for what is going on with Pete Dunne and the Alpha Male I’m excited. These are two brawlers who want to fight and I can’t wait to see what happens when they cross paths next.
RENEE YOUNG: Speaking of pull apart brawls, things certainly haven’t gotten clearer between Jade Cargill, Liv Morgan, and Taya Valkyrie this week. Jade and her mentor Jazz were able to get a measure of retribution against Liv Morgan after Taya abandoned her partner. Liv thought she found a new best friend to replace Ruby Soho but it looks like she is on her own again.
JIM ROSS: Which should scare Taya Valkyrie. It’s no secret that Liv has been unhinged since she broke up the Riott Squad by throwing Chris Sabin to the wolves. I don’t think Taya Valkyrie is taking Liv very seriously and that’s going to come back and bite her on the butt. Of course Jade Cargill also has unfinished business with Taya as she’s one of the few women in EWA history with a victory over her - a tainted one at that.
ERIC BISCHOFF: This is what I meant earlier that a lot of women on the roster say they want to win Civil War but aren’t focused on Civil War. Jade wants to beat Taya for getting on her and Liv for being the reason why Taya has a win on her. Taya knows wins over Jade and Liv along with her Queen of the Ring crown will put her closer to a shot at the EWA Women’s title. Liv hates the fact that fans love Jade and now wants revenge on Taya for stabbing her in the back last week. That’s a lot of distractions and if any of them want to win Civil War they need to put all of this behind them.
RENEE YOUNG: These three women are certainly favorites for the next title shot against Aliyah, Eric, so maybe one of them won’t even be in Civil War, Eric. Especially because Aliyah stated that she was keeping her eyes open for her next challenger after successfully defending the EWA Women’s title against Alexa Bliss and defeating Dakota Kai in a non-title bout. Well Eric you mentioned earlier that Santino Marella was focused on King of the Ring and that win led him to a Captain’s spot at Superbrawl and a title match against Chris Jericho at Collision Course. The rest? Well that’s history as Santino Marella won the big one and threw a celebration party for himself along with Hornswoggle! That celebration was cut short by an interruption by Chris Jericho and then again by Mil Muertes who… well… destroyed Y2J.
ERIC BISCHOFF: Destroyed is an understatement, Renee. I’ve been a big supporter of Chris Jericho for the past year but Dario Cueto and Mil Muertes proved a point. They will not be disrespected and they will not be ignored. Santino Marella’s Cinderella story is ending soon and, if what happened to Chris Jericho is any indication, it may be ending for good.
JIM ROSS: There has been a whole lot of talk about karma tonight and Chris Jericho is a lot of things: selfish, obnoxious, egotistical to name a few. He didn’t deserve that though. Dario showed what happens when you do business with him and his Temple for sure. If Mil was able to manhandle a living legend like Jericho, Santino has his work cut out for him if he’s his first challenger.
RENEE YOUNG: Let’s move forward to a rematch from last month as the Worldwide Underground faced off with the Worst in tag team competition. The first time they met The Worst came away with the victory and John Morrison laid the blame squarely on Jack Evans. This time Morrison stepped into replace Evans and the Worldwide Underground picked up the win. Does this lend credence to the notion that Evans is the weak link of the Worldwide Underground and should he be worried?
JIM ROSS: I mean you can’t argue against facts, Renee. When Jack was teaming with Ace they lost and when Morrison teamed with Ace they won. Was it just a bad night for Evans in that first match? Maybe but after months of taking a backseat, Morrison has decided that he needs to lead this team by example. He clearly views Ace Austin as the future of the Worldwide Underground and has his own aspirations to gold. If he feels like Jack Evans is a hindrance to either then Jack should be a little nervous.
ERIC BISCHOFF: I agree with JR, Renee. Jack Evans should be nervous but he’s not the only one. When Taeler Hendrix first appeared in the EWA, she let it be known that the Worst were expendable if they couldn’t get the job done. Well, last week, they didn’t get the job done. We’ve already seen that Taeler is unveiling her new “client” this weekend at EWA USA so she’s backing up her threats. You either win or she replaces you. Corey Graves and Shane Thorne may need to start looking over their shoulders.
RENEE YOUNG: Someone else who may be unhappy with their friend is “Cowboy” James Storm after Eric Young potentially cost him his match against Team Taz’s Hook. We all know that EY means well but even I was caught off guard by his tribute to Ernie Roth’s Grand Wizard character last week. James Storm stated he doesn’t want to team with EY but what do you think about EY’s desire to be Storm’s manager?
ERIC BISCHOFF: It’s a waste of time and it’s not worth remarking on. Eric Young is a lot like Glenn Gilbertti and Johnny Swinger. He’s not serious about this business. He wants to go out and make people laugh and have a good time. James Storm, however, wants to show the world he has what it takes to be a singles star. Hook is a prodigy of this business, yes, but James Storm was giving him some trouble in the match. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Team Taz builds assassins who find your weaknesses and never let an opportunity go to waste. EY distracted Storm and Hook put Storm away. If I’m James Storm, I’m telling Eric Young to stay the hell away from me!
JIM ROSS: You’re being too hard on him, Eric. EY just wants to help his friend and he’s slowly trying to figure out how. I know James Storm and I know that he’s wanting to change and be a better man. I know this loss to Hook is going to sting but the two of these guys will figure it out. For Hook though, this is just another in a line of big victories that should be putting him closer to title contention. Rex Steiner may need to keep his eyes open.
RENEE YOUNG: Well Hook’s night was unfortunately not over as he made his presence known in our main event where he cost Kenny Omega the match to Shark Boy. Now Shark Boy was ready for this match. Backstage he showed a lot of intensity but Kenny Omega is quite possibly the greatest wrestler in the world. Right as it looked like Kenny was about to put Shark Boy away with the One Winged Angel, Hook came back down to the ring to hit a Tazplex and choke Omega out with the REDRUM. Now all of this stemmed from a confrontation backstage at EWA USA a few weeks ago, Jim, but did that warrant this sort of attack?
JIM ROSS: Absolutely not, Renee. In a night of chaos and violence, I was really hoping we could end on a high note with a fair and honest competition between Kenny Omega and Shark Boy. Hook picked a fight at EWA USA and now weeks later decided to bring it up again while Kenny was preoccupied. I doubt Shark Boy even realized what happened but I know Kenny isn’t going to take this lying down. Hook may have started something that he’ll regret.
ERIC BISCHOFF: Oh come on! If Kenny Omega takes what happened with Hook personally then that just tells me that he’s too sensitive for this business. Hook did what every young wrestler should. He found the “best” guy in the locker room and dared him to step up. Kenny backed down first and Hook felt that needed to be corrected. Hook showed just how easily he can choke Kenny Omega out and if a win over James Storm is impressive - a win over Kenny Omega will be even more so. As for Shark Boy? Good for him. He needed a pity win.
RENEE YOUNG: Well ladies and gentlemen it is now time for the EWA Classic Match of the Week. In honor of St. Patrick’s Day we’re going all the way back to the March 17th, 2010 edition of Wednesday Night Warzone where John Morrison showed his tag team prowess as he teamed with Mark Jindrak against KAIENTAI.
[ TAG TEAM MATCH ]
JINDRAK/MORRISON vs. KAIENTAI
ONE FALL; 20 MIN. TIME LIMIT
It’s Jindrak and Taka Michinoku who start things off, as the bell sounds and the two start circling one another before locking up…and Mark proceeds to toss his opponent across the ring, showing off his impressive strength!! Jindrak flexes his biceps and taunts Taka to bring it on, to which Michinoku then charges right towards him, with the Chief of Sexy swinging for a clothesline…but Taka ducks under the shot as Funaki joins him inside the ring, the two of them hitting a pair of short dropkicks to the knees of Mark Jindrak, knocking him to the canvas and then allowing both members of Kaientai to connect with a pair of kicks either side of Jindrak’s head! The Referee angrily shouts at Funaki, who now exits the ring, whilst Taka Michinoku goes for the early cover…1…2…KICK OUT!! However, he doesn’t waste any time, dragging Jindrak back upright and unloading with a series of stiff rights to the jaw, backing him into the ropes and then going for an Irish whip…only for the Chief of Sexy to reverse and then nail his opponent with a big boot to the face on the rebound! Jindrak then staggers over and makes the tag out to John Morrison, with the Guru of Greatness coming in and then laying the boots into Taka on the canvas! JoMo then leads his opponent back up again, where he fires off some big time European uppercuts that sends his opponent stumbling back into the vacant corner behind him! Morrison then proceeds to lift Taka up onto the top turnbuckle before climbing up after him, with Michinoku trying desperately to fight back and free himself…but Morrison cuts him off with some stiff clubbing blows before hooking Taka up and powering him into the air, dropping backwards with a superplex!! Morrison goes for the cover…1…2…NOOO!! Funaki breaks up the count!! The Referee forces him back out again as Morrison takes Taka by the arm, pulling him up and into an arm wringer, before then making the tag back to Mark Jindrak! The Chief of Sexy enters the ring and hops up onto the middle rope before diving off and landing a double axe handle smash to Taka’s out-stretched limb! Morrison exits the ring, allowing Jindrak to then hit an arm wringer of his own before dragging Michinoku right into a short arm clothesline to take him down! He then flexes his biceps once more, making the fans furious, before now dragging Taka up off the canvas and hooking him in a front facelock as he taunts Funaki on the apron! Jindrak then lifts the Kaientai member into the air, holding him upside down for a hanging vertical suplex…yet somehow, Taka Michinoku manages to repeatedly strike Mark Jindrak in the head with several knee strikes in a row, before then swinging his body back down and spiking his opponent on his head with a DDT, leaving both men down!! After several moments, Taka begins crawling towards his opponent’s out-stretched hand, but Mark Jindrak starts to come to at the same time, grabbing Taka by the leg to stop him in his tracks! Both Jindrak and Michinoku battle back to their feet, with Taka hopping up and down on one foot for several moments…before suddenly striking Jindrak in the side of the head with an enziguiri, before diving and making the tag to Funaki!!JOEY STYLES: What a crucial tag that was right there!! Taka Michinoku was in some trouble, but here comes Funaki now!!
SHANE O’MAC: But can he make the difference?!
Funaki climbs right to the top turnbuckle as Mark Jindrak struggles back upright and then turns around…getting caught with a missile dropkick that knocks him right back down again! Funaki then pops back up and charges at John Morrison, taking him by surprise with a stiff shot that knocks him off the apron!! Funaki then turns his attention back towards Jindrak, cutting the Chief of Sexy off with a stiff kick to the midsection, before then hitting the ropes behind him and coming back with a one-handed bulldog!! Funaki goes for the cover…1…2…KICK OUT!! The Kaientai member then goes over and makes the tag back to Taka Michinoku, as together, the devious duo drag Jindrak up and unload with a series of chops to the chest, before whipping Jindrak off into the ropes and hitting a big time double back body drop on the rebound! They then notice John Morrison trying to re-enter the ring and stop the double teaming…but both Taka and Funaki cut him off with a pair of short dropkicks that send him right back out of the ring!! They then turn their attention back towards Mark Jindrak, where they drag him upright and hook him up, lifting him into the air as if for a double suplex…only to drop him chest-first into the canvas with a double gordbuster!! Funaki then applies a camel clutch, wrenching it in as Taka Michinoku hits the ropes opposite, charging back and coming off the ropes in front of Jindrak, before landing a smashing short dropkick right to the exposed face!! Jindrak is down and out as Funaki exits the ring and Taka Michinoku goes for the cover…1…2…KICK OUT!! He then goes over and makes the tag to Funaki once again, Kaientai looking to keep one another fresh and continue the double teams, as they now pull Mark Jindrak back up again, whipping him towards the ropes…but Morrison is back up on the apron and grabs a hold of his Chief of Sexy, stopping him from suffering any more damage! Angered, Kaientai then charge towards Jindrak and Morrison…only for Jindrak to catch Taka with a back body drop up and over the top rope, whilst JoMo lashes out with a roundhouse kick right into Funaki’s face! The Japanese superstar is momentarily stunned as Jindrak then bursts forwards and levels him with a clothesline, before now going over and making the tag to Morrison! The Shaman of Sexy takes Jindrak’s place inside the ring, waiting for Funaki to sit upright before charging in with a brutal Shining Wizard to knock his lights out! The Guru of Greatness then drags Funaki up off the canvas and hooks him by the head, DRIVING him down into the canvas with the Moonlight Drive!!! He makes the cover as Jindrak stops Taka Michinoku from being able to re-enter the ring and break it up…1…2…3!!!
WINNERS:
JINDRAK/MORRISON
RENEE YOUNG: It’s astounding that twelve years later, John Morrison is just as good if not better than he was back then.
JIM ROSS: He certainly knew how to pick tag team partners, Renee. Mark Jindrak was a freak of nature with his size, power, and agility. I know John wants to be a singles star, but he certainly has the pedigree of a great tag team wrestler.
ERIC BISCHOFF: I wonder what KAIENTAI are up to today?
RENEE YOUNG: Ladies and gentlemen that is going to do it for us today, however be sure to tune into EWA USA this Saturday morning! Shannon Moore will run the Decree’s gauntlet. If he comes out victorious, he will receive a shot at Drew McIntyre’s National title on the March 27th edition of Sunday Night Slam in a Glasgow Street Fight!
JIM ROSS: Don’t forget that we’ll also see Dakota Kai look to rebound from her non-title loss to Aliyah as she faces the Decree’s Killer Kelly. Plus Alexa Bliss and Monty Brown will team up against Pete Dunne and Team Taz’s Rhea Ripley. That match is going to be explosive!
ERIC BISCHOFF: Also I understand Lindsay Snow will be in singles competition and Taeler Hendrix unveils her new client T-Bar!
RENEE YOUNG: Expect all of that and more on EWA USA! See you soon!
