This is EWA Wrestleline. The only official news and rumors of the E-Wrestling Alliance, reported and verified by EWA insiders. The stories here are broke down into two categories:
News, the first category, which has official confirmation and comment from sources withing the EWA Headquarters in San Diego, CA.
Rumors, the second category, have been told to us by those with inside EWA knowledge, but has not been commented on publicly by the company.
- We reported last week on several new talents signed to the EWA and we're happy to report EWA has inked a deal with several more wrestlers including the returns of Shark Boy and Kenny Omega to the roster.
- Likewise, as a follow-up to last week, many EWA wrestlers were given their walking papers, with over a half dozen contracts coming to an end. Perhaps most notably for MJF and Santos Escobar. Neither wrestler had been used in some time but EWA has kept the door open for their return should either man show interest.
- A bit of sad news as perennial EWA enhancement talent, Ken Raper, has passed away. Raper was the on-again, off-again tag partner of "Desperado" Joe Gomez and the two engaged in a seemingly never ending feud in 2018. Raper was a diligent wrestler appearing on dozens of EWA programs throughout the years and was a stalwart of the backstage area. He will be missed. As per his wishes, Raper's ashes will be spread among the food in catering on this week's SLAM.
IN MEMORIAM
- On this week's episode of Sunday Night SLAM there is expected to be a huge announcement that will change the landscape of the EWA moving forward. EWA officials are being tight-lipped about exactly what the announcement will be, but one source who spoke under condition of anonymity was quoted as saying, "This is big. Nothing like this has happened in years."
- There are plans to put more focus on the women's division in upcoming months.
- The EWA archive of results, the EWA Network, is currently having a half off sale for new subscribers. Instead of paying the usual rate, you can relive the greatest moments in E-Wrestling Alliance history for even less. This is a limited time offer.
- Ben Carter's work ethic is said to have impressed officials backstage and they have high hopes for the youngster from the UK.
- Former EWA Triple Crown Champion John Bradshaw Layfield was spotted at the EWA Headquarters in San Diego, California this past week. No word yet why or if he was just visiting friends.
- One veteran who was not visiting friends is The Undertaker, who apparently returned at some recent house shows and is said to have looked in great shape. He will face Rob Van Dam on this week's episode of Sunday Night SLAM.
- Glenn Gilbertti was pulled over in Seattle, Washington this past week for reckless driving. Apparently the former Disco Inferno had a case of "Disco fever" and just had to boogie behind the wheel. No charges have been filed. An attorney for Gilbertti said he thought it was good for his client to be "wreck-less" because otherwise he would have been in a collision.
- In other legal news, rumor is a class action lawsuit against Simon Dean former EWA talent and promoter of the "Simon System" is about to get underway. Many plaintiffs have joined the suit alleging that the fitness guru engaged in deceptive marketing by claiming a lifestyle change and diet that never came to fruition. The suit alleges that many of the people who followed the Simon System ended up overweight, depressed and with an assortment of rashes.
- Speaking of rashes, former EWA Champion Charlie Haas is the new face of "Johnson & Jenson's Old Fashioned Jock Itch Cream".
- Six full grown beagles were in attendance at SuperBrawl. Apparently the beagles were stacked on top of each other inside a trench coat and no one noticed it wasn't a man until late in the pay-per-view when the beagles became distracted by what they thought was a postal worker.
- According to one inside source, something big is about to shake up the OOC in the EWA. When asked for comment, Ruby Soho was quoted as saying "What's an OOC?".
- Booker T has been approached by producers for a big budget Hollywood remake of Mac & Me. He was offered the role of MAC, the McDonald's loving alien from a distant planet. No word yet on if he’ll take them up on the offer.
BOOKER T & ME?
- Limes are denser than lemons, so if you put a lime in water it will sink while a lemon will float.
