Despite positive feedback and reviews from last Sunday's edition of SLAM!, the EWA once again were reminded of the phrase "card subject to change."
Early on Sunday morning, EWA Officials were notified by agents that both Sheamus and Asuka had not made it to the arena by bell time despite both being contractually obligated to appear on the show. Officials attempted to reach out to Sheamus and Asuka separately via phone, email, and social media but did not receive a response from either. Additionally, agents who were sent to the superstars' hotels to check in on them were notified by hotel staff that both guests had checked out earlier that day.
Asuka, a recent women's champion, surprised officials most as the Japanese superstar always came across as professional with her commitments. There had been rumors that the Empress of Tomorrow was lining herself up for a rematch for her women's belt that she had lost to Sasha Banks, who ultimately lost it to current champion Bayley.
Sheamus, recently released from a three year sentencing in prison, did not surprise anyone with his absence. There have been negative feelings backstage about offering Sheamus a new EWA contract as he is not particularly well liked by the rest of the roster or production team for his loud, boorish behavior.
The link between the two no-shows is currently unknown at this time despite the pair briefly engaging in a tense interaction on SLAM! one week prior to this no-show.
As of this posting, neither superstar has been in contact with EWA management.
This is a story that will be watched closely as more develops.
