Super Brawl XX
For a historic 20 years, the E-Wrestling Alliance calendar year has been headlined by it's marquee event, SuperBrawl! Not only is SuperBrawl where the biggest matches and feuds culminate, but it's where the SuperBrawl match itself takes place. This unique contest pits teams of wrestlers against one another with multiple championships on the line. The match has been contested under one basic premise for decades but typically each year the rules change slightly to reflect the changing times, championships and participants available to the contest.
Last year SuperBrawl went "Free-For-All", allowing not just the single winning team of SuperBrawl to gain championships, but forcing the champions themselves to defend their titles within the match individually. If they were pinned before they pinned someone else, they lost the gold. Traditionally the winning "team" won all the belts. Teams have been comprised of as small as three and as large as six.
Championships hang in the balance while legacies are forged in the fire of competition. Will we see returns? Old faces? New faces? It's the one time of the year where anything could happen in the EWA and only the strongest and the luckiest survive.
Since Chris Jericho, The Rock, Farooq & Bradshaw won the first SuperBrawl event in 2001, the night has been capped off with hard hitting action, surprise twists and incredible wrestling. This year in celebration of TWENTY years of the E-Wrestling Alliance and SuperBrawl itself, the event will combine a myriad of the different incarnations of SuperBrawl to create what could be the wildest SuperBrawl match in history!
And much like last year... There could be unannounced surprises as part of the match. The unknown is part of the drama.
Heading into SuperBrawl the following champions are putting their titles up for stake in this most unique bout:
EWA World Heavyweight Champion BUFF BAGWELL - Bagwell is the current EWA World Champion. Although he could lose his title before SuperBrawl as he is facing Jeremy Wyatt in an upcoming bout. However as of this writing, Bagwell is the champion and is putting his belt on the line. He is also a team captain.
EWA National Champion EDDIE KINGSTON - Kingston is not a team captain, but his gold is on the line. He must be drafted onto a team. Should he lose the belt before then, whoever becomes champion will take Kingston's spot in SuperBrawl, unless they already have a spot in the match itself.
EWA Television Champion HANGMAN PAGE - Adam Page is not a team captain, but his gold is also on the line. He must be drafted onto a team. Should he lose the belt before then, whoever becomes champion will take Page's spot in SuperBrawl, unless they already have a spot in the match itself.
EWA World Tag Team Champions THE NEW FREEBIRDS - Although the Freebirds are technically comprised of 3 men, only two MUST be drafted. All three COULD be drafted, but only two need to be drafted to defend the belts. They must be drafted and the team captain can pick which incarnation of the team will be chosen. Like last year, the EWA Tag Titles are available to be split during the match, so each member of the Freebirds duo will be defending his title, which means one man could retain while the other could lose. Should they lose the belts before SuperBrawl, whoever becomes champion will take their spot in SuperBrawl, unless they already have a spot in the match itself.
SuperBrawl is the match where history is made, legacies are written and the future is shaped...
The Basics of Super Brawl XX
Four teams of four will battle.
The event will begin with one man from each team starting off the match.
After 5 minutes, the second set of men from each team will head to ringside. They will NOT enter the match itself.
For the first time ever, teammates can be TAGGED in! This heightens the need to work as a team.
Team members can tag in and out with any members of their team that are at ringside.
When a champion is tagged in, their title is active and if they are pinned at any point, they lose their championship. However if they eliminate one other team member BEFORE they are pinned, their title is no longer active and they retain their championship.
If a champion is disqualified, they lose their title. There are no countouts. DQs will be at the Referee's discretion.
The match will continue in 4 on 4 style, with new entrants joining the fray at ringside every 5 minutes (but to be in the match they must tag in) and this will continue until only one team is left standing.
The last team remaining when all others are defeated will gain whatever championships they have accumulated during the match and they will also get a title shot at whatever belt their captain deems in the new year. This gives the captains more power than ever and will make teams work together.
ROUND ONE OF THE DRAFT:
The draft will begin by the 2020 King of the Ring drafting the three members of his team.
Next the three remaining captains (starting with the World Champion's team) will begin picking an entrant into the SuperBrawl match. The person selected can be anyone, current EWA member, returning member, new member, but they will be a part of the match.
Their goal could be to help you retain a title, to win a different title, or to win a title opportunity... So choose carefully. Draft a friend. Draft an enemy. Draft someone else's hated enemy. Draft someone who you think will make your life better come the SuperBrawl match.
But be careful. This year's draft will have some twists and turns that could make it the most dangerous draft to date.
Once they each select an entrant into the draft, we will come back for Round 2.
Every EWA male champion MUST be drafted at some point, so if we get to a point where a champion isn't drafted they will be drafted by default to whatever team's pick is up.
AND NOW THE CAPTAINS OF SUPERBRAWL XX:
1. Buff Bagwell - EWA World Champion and long running member of the roster. Bagwell has had ups and downs for the past several years he's been a part of the company, but 2020 has undoubtedly been the best year of Buff's career. His mother Judy Bagwell is often seen as the brains behind the "brawn" and could be a factor in this team. SuperBrawl could be Buff's defining moment, or his ultimate downfall.
2. Jeremy Wyatt - A relative newcomer to the E-Wrestling Alliance, the "Monarch" is the only man in the company to win two singles championships in the last 12 months. Wyatt has taken the company by storm, not letting what few setbacks he's had stop him for long. His brash attitude and indomitable influence over others has put him into multiple title contentions. But can he work with others given his large ego?
3. Santos Escobar - As of this date, completely undefeated AND the 2020 King of the Ring, Santos Ecobar has arrived in the EWA with much fanfare. Not only has he been spotless in his record, but his wrestling lineage is chock full of legendary luchadors. Now Escobar seeks to cement his own name and legacy and his 2020 King of the Ring crown guaranteed him the first World Title match of 2021 and the right to be a captain and choose his complete team before everyone else in SuperBrawl. Everything is coming up Escobar, but can he assemble a team that will help him complete his dynasty?
4. Jamie Noble - The final team captain "earned" his spot by luck of the draw as GM Harry Smith put one captain's spot up for grabs in a lottery drawing. Noble is no slouch, having been one of the bright spots of early 2020, having won Civil War and becoming EWA World Champion. But the back half of the year has not been as kind to Noble as he's fallen out of favor with management, lost personal friendships and blamed everyone but himself for his shortcomings. SuperBrawl is make or break for the Redneck Messiah as it seems a victory could return him to prominence, while a defeat could destine him obscurity. Who he picks to join him on this quest may be the most important decision of his career.
The Fine Print
This topic will remain sticky at the top, and I ask that only those drafting respond to this post, any questions or the like be posted either in the Locker Room or via PM to me, not under this thread as I want to keep this the "official" SB topic without all the clutter of useless replies. Good luck, everyone!
It should be noted that although this topic is being opened early, it may takes hours, or even DAYS to complete this process, so just sit back, enjoy and have fun.
With that out of the way, let the 2020 EWA Super Brawl Draft begin!
And so the SuperBrawl draft begins with Santos Escobar choosing his team! Once his picks are complete, Buff Bagwell will draft his first pick, followed by Jeremy Wyatt drafting his first pick, followed by Jamie Noble drafting his first pick... Continuing until all the spots are filled!
