Tag Title Match Refused by Board of Directors
EWA.com EXCLUSIVE
EWA.com can officially reveal that the Board of Directors will not sanction the proposed handicap match between Jay Briscoe and The Revival for the EWA Tag Team Titles at Summer Stampede.
With Mark Briscoe being ruled out for an undetermined amount of time due to the knee injury suffered at the hands of Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder, Jay Briscoe agreed on this past week's Sunday Night SLAM! to defend the Tag Titles on behalf of both Briscoe Brothers against The Revival at the EWA's annual summer blowout.
However, the Board have ruled that for any Tag Team Title match to take place, the defending champions must both be present when the belts are defended. They noted that the ruling was different for challenging teams, which comes down to the challengers discretion, pointing out the Kings of Wrestling defending against John Cena in a 2 on 1 match back in May.
The EWA rules state that any member of the EWA locker room that has a championship belt MUST be present to defend the title with no exceptions or face being stripped of their title. It's currently unclear what this means for the Tag Team Title situation heading into Summer Stampede, but the Board have declared that everything will be resolved this Sunday Night on SLAM!
Online speculation currently suggests that The Briscoes could be stripped of the tag team championships, with The Revival crowned champions by forfeit. However, nothing has been confirmed as of yet. Still, the question remains, will the Tag Team Titles be defended at Summer Stampede? And if so, who will be the defending champions?
