This is EWA Wrestleline. The only official news and rumors of the E-Wrestling Alliance, reported and verified by EWA insiders. The stories here are broke down into two categories. News, which has gotten official confirmation and comment from the EWA Headquarters in San Diego, CA and Rumors, which have been told to us by those with inside EWA knowledge, but has not been commented on publicly by the company.
- John Cena's departure/leave of absence caught some in the company by surprise. While officials had actually advocated for Cena to take some time off and refigure out his direction, many were sort of stunned that Cena returned only to then disappear. Some saw it as a wasted opportunity, while others believe that Cena's attack on his own father was a "cry for help".
- Several matches have been officially signed for Tokyo SOS, the upcoming pay-per-view as part of the EWA Japan Tour. These matches have not yet been announced, but the early belief is that most of that card will be booked before Red, White & Bruised even takes place.
- As part of the Japan tour, several interpromotional "dream matches" are apparently being worked out.
- There was consideration at some point to make Brian Pillman Jr. part of the National Title match. Some officials wanted him in the match itself, while others thought he would be a good special guest referee. Ultimately it was decided to leave Pillman out of the mix.
- At least one superstar is said to be disgruntled backstage, often complaining about how he's booked or recent losses that he feels could have been avoided. Reportedly this has not endeared him to most, as EWA is less about wins and losses and more about how you play the game.
- EWA has hired several new talents and is scouting several others. There have been quite a few names tossed around in recent weeks that could bolster a variety of divisions.
- There was an interesting amount of "enhancement" talent on the program this past week on SLAM. Some might look at that as a low point, but apparently some officials are pleased with it. The belief is that there are a lot of people in the EWA universe and it makes sense for lesser known acts to get some moments to shine.
- Activity has apparently been very high as interest is up for Red, White & Bruised. Officials are hoping to keep that momentum going throughout the summer and into the fall. With SuperBrawl rapidly approaching, the belief is to keep things exciting and interest up for that wild time. Often there is a lull before that time of year.
- The first issue of the classic EWA Magazine has been archived here if you'd like to take a trip back in time: EWA Magazine Issue #1
- Former EWA wrestler YAMATO has started a yoga pants company in Japan called YaYa MATO to compete with LuLu Lemon.
- An independent wrestler known by the name of Seth "Freakin" Rollins (not to be confused with former EWA star Seth Rollins) was signed for a tryout match recently. However his stint was brief, as he apparently stole some promotional artwork and then died of a stroke.
- For those not familiar with the origin of the EWA, you can read it here: EWA Origins
- This upcoming 4th of July is a particularly hard time for former EWA star Heath Slater, who last year during fireworks festivities blew his hand off. Thankfully the hand was made of rubber.
- EWA will reportedly work on updating the archives soon, but it's a lot of work.
- Booker T has been approached by the Icelantic Ski company to license his likeness for a new line of outdoor winter sports equipment tentatively called “Booker Skis”. No word yet on if he’ll take them up on the offer.
- Newt has a very busy weekend ahead of him. He wouldn't turn down offers to help write matches for RWB.
