This is EWA Wrestleline. The only official news and rumors of the E-Wrestling Alliance, reported and verified by EWA insiders. The stories here are broke down into two categories. News, which has gotten official confirmation and comment from the EWA Headquarters in San Diego, CA and Rumors, which have been told to us by those with inside EWA knowledge, but has not been commented on publicly by the company.
- Bray Wyatt was backstage at SLAM and actually submitted an angle to the show. General Manager Harry Smith nixed the idea, not wanting Wyatt to return to the company in this capacity. Wyatt was said to be upset, but Smith was equally as frustrated as Wyatt apparently showed up completely unannounced and without a contract.
- EWA's upcoming tour of Japan is expected to not just be more generic shows in a new arena, but the hope is to have those programs be authentic to the arenas and areas of Japan they are being filmed in. Each show is expected to have a unique feel, with Tokyo SOS being a very quick pay-per-view turnaround for the company.
- Several guest wrestlers from other promotions in Japan are scheduled to appear in matches at Tokyo SOS and perhaps even on some of the Japan tour episodes of SLAM.
- Ken Shamrock will officially be making his return to the EWA as part of the EWA Japan tour. He has already inked a contract to appear on all three broadcasts and is signed to face a top Japanese talent at Tokyo SOS.
- Several segments were cut short this past week on SLAM due to the large amount of time that was being taken up on the show. One segment in particular, the backstage brawl between Brock Lesnar and Matt Taven, was said to have benefitted from it. There may be more of that brawl shown on other avenues, but many believe the "unsatisfactory" nature of the revenge by Lesnar played well into the story as it's been going.
- This past week's AMA with Harry Smith was well received. Smith was said to be shocked by how many questions were asked, but also the immense amount of work that went into producing something like that. Other AMAs are planned, but will be done on a very limited basis, so as to not wear out the concept.
- Brian Pillman Junior was said to still be feeling the effects of his match the week before on SLAM and was almost pulled from his match with Nakamura altogether. But Pillman agreed to his obligations and continued on anyway, resulting in a pretty one-sided affair. Some people believe that Pillman has, quote, "More heart than brains".
- Last week's match between The Reaper and Roman Reigns is said to have been an unofficial #1 contender's match for the National Title and the belief is that the Reaper will be announced this week as Buh Buh Dudley's opponent for the Red, White & Bruised pay-per-view. However it's said that the current situation is "fluid" and that plans could change before the show.
- Former EWA weirdo Mordecai was spotted at a local Bass Pro Shop in Toledo, Ohio. It's said he was buying an obscene amount of fishing line.
- Apparently there is an impromptu match scheduled for Red, White & Bruised. But if it's already scheduled, it can't really be impromptu can it? Unless it's canceled, but then you wouldn't really know.
- The Great Khali was allegedly challenging other wrestlers to Dance Dance Revolution battles backstage this past week. Apparently no one took him up on the offer, as Khali had no way of playing the game and was simply smashing empty boxes and eating marshmallows.
- EWA is not getting much money from the Shady Side Hospital for Psychiatry partnership, but it's said that many backstage are happy that there is a place for them when they retire.
- Fit Finlay was offered the lead in an upcoming Han Solo fan film.
- Booker T has been approached by the Lipton company to license his likeness for a new line of herbal infused drinks named “Booker Teas”. No word yet on if he’ll take them up on the offer.
- Newt would like to thank Jon for his help this past week.
